Warrnambool Primary school
Warrnambool Primary School recognises that the environment is integral to the quality of our students lives. Therefore, it is imperative that we take active steps in making our school more sustainable by focusing on waste, water energy and biodiversity initiatives.
Minimise the amount of waste that we send to landfill. All Prep food waste is collected and placed in an organics bin which is then made into compost and fertiliser. Soft plastic rubbish is collected and recycled via the Redcycle program. Next year, we hope to make this a whole school initiative
.• Re-use and recycle as many materials as we can. Currently the art room operates using mostlyrecycled materials!
• Reduce the consumption of energy by making efforts to turn all lights and appliances OFF when they are not in use.
• Conserve water by fixing any leaking or dripping taps
.• Participate in future tree planting days to improve the biodiversity of our school yard.
The Jamo Sustainability Committee meet at 1.40 pm in Room 8 of the Infant Building (Prep building) on the third Thursday of every month. If you’ve got a great idea for making our school more sustainable, or just want to see what’s going on, please come along to one of our meetings. We’d love to see you there! Also, keep up with our environmental journey by viewing upcoming events and activities in the school newsletter. .Alternatively you can add your details below and someone from the Sustainability team will be in touch
