Position: Year 5/6
Year Levels Taught: Prep, Year One, Year Two, Year 5 and Year 6
Educational Philosophy: I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help motivate students to meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that supports risk-taking, is safe and invites a sharing of ideas.
My connection to Warrnambool Primary School spans three generations in my family. My mother taught here in the 1960’s, I have taught here and my son, Xavier, attended here from 2010 – 2015. Born in Port Fairy, I am the eldest of 5 siblings. We lived near the beach and I enjoyed a carefree and happy childhood in the 1960’s and 1970’s with lots of friends. The beach is still a big part of my enjoyment of this area. We moved to Warrnambool when I was a teenager and I completed secondary school and Uni here. After successfully completing University, I was sent to Nyah in the Mallee for my first teaching appointment. The next year I was given a class in Purnim after I requested a ‘Compassionate Transfer’ because I was getting married. Over the next 15 years or so I had my children (Celeste, Matthew, Laura and Xavier). I have warm memories of teaching at Woodford PS, Mailor’s Flat PS, Grasmere PS and Allansford PS during these years. In 1996, the year my mother died, I was successful in gaining employment at Warrnambool Primary School. Initially I taught in the art room for 2 years but since then, moved to the classroom. Happily, I am a ‘Jamo’ teacher. I feel I have embraced all the changes and challenges that come along the way, but I must emphasize the rewards far outweigh any challenges.
